Troy Logan Pickens, a chorus teacher at Durant Middle School in Raleigh, North Carolina, was found guilty by a Wake County jury of first-degree statutory rape of a child by an adult offender and two counts of first-degree statutory sexual offense with a child by an adult offender. On November 1, 2019, he was sentenced to three consecutive terms of 300 to 420 months in prison. The North Carolina Supreme Court reinstated that sentence in October 2023.
