Miguel G. Garcia, a former teacher at Mesa Vista High School in Ojo Caliente, was convicted by a Rio Arriba County jury of two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and five counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, all fourth-degree felonies, involving a student in 2012-2013. He was later sentenced to 18 years with nine suspended, followed by probation and lifetime sex offender registration.
