Anthony James Deason, a teacher and coach with Tahlequah Public Schools, pleaded guilty in federal court on December 11, 2024, to attempted receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor. Prosecutors said he used social media in October 2023 to ask two students he knew to be minors for explicit images. He was sentenced in May 2025 to 84 months in prison followed by eight years of supervised release.
